A BETTER WAY FORWARD

Sustainability at Oceza

THOUGHTFUL BY NATURE

For the Ocean That Inspires Us

The fashion industry has an overproduction problem, with an estimated 21% of retail apparel stock left unsold. Unsold inventory can ultimately become waste before it ever finds a home. At Oceza, we take a different approach.

At Oceza, we take a different approach. Every piece is made to order, meaning production begins only after you choose it. This helps us avoid creating large quantities of excess inventory while allowing us to offer a wider range of ocean-inspired designs and inclusive sizing than would otherwise be possible for a small independent brand.

Made-to-order production does mean your order takes a little longer to reach you, but we believe creating what is actually wanted and that it's worth the wait.

CHOSEN WITH PURPOSE

Better Materials, Wherever Possible

Many Oceza swimwear pieces are made with recycled polyester, from bikinis and one-pieces to rash guards and swim leggings, recycled materials are at the heart of the pieces we create for life in and around the water.

Recycled polyester transforms existing plastic materials into new fibers that can be used to create durable, high-performance fabrics with the stretch and versatility swimwear demands. By choosing recycled polyester over conventional virgin polyester for our swimwear, we're able to give existing materials another use while creating pieces designed for countless adventures to come.

Our fabrics are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, meaning they've been tested for harmful substances, and their recycled content is certified under the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).

Beyond swimwear, many of our other products also incorporate recycled or organic materials, including organic cotton. We're proud that thoughtful materials have become the standard across the Oceza collection, and we'll continue looking for ways to improve as better options become available.

How Recycled Polyester Is Made

Recycled polyester gives existing plastic materials a second life by transforming them into fibers that can be used to create new fabric.
Collection

Post-consumer plastic, such as discarded plastic bottles, is collected and diverted from the waste stream to be recycled into new materials.

Shredding

The collected plastic is sorted by type and color, then thoroughly cleaned to remove any labels, dirt, and residue. Then the cleaned plastic is shredded into small flakes, making it easier to process into new materials.

Melting Into Pellets

The plastic flakes are melted and reformed into small recycled polyester, or rPET, pellets that can be used as raw material for creating new fibers.

Spinning Into Fibers

The recycled material is melted and spun into fine polyester fibers, which can then be woven or knitted into fabric.

Made for New Adventures

The finished recycled polyester fabric is cut, printed, and sewn into select Oceza pieces designed for days in, on, and around the water.

THE JOURNEY TO YOU

Giving Plastic Another Life

Your Oceza pieces are packaged in bags made with post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, giving existing materials another life while helping protect your order on its journey to you.

By using packaging made from recycled plastic, we can help reduce the demand for new virgin plastic while making sure your pieces arrive safely and ready for their next adventure.

PRINTED WITH PURPOSE

Vibrant Color Without the Compromise

Our UPF 50+ sun protection is built directly into the fabric rather than applied as a separate chemical coating, so the protection won’t wash out over time.

Our all-over swimwear designs are created using sublimation printing, where heat transfers the design directly into the fabric. Because the color becomes part of the material rather than sitting on top of it, the print won’t peel or crack.

The sublimation inks used in our production process are OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT certified, meaning they’ve been independently tested against strict requirements for substances that may be harmful to human health or the environment.

Once printed, each garment is precisely cut and sewn only after it’s ordered, allowing us to create vibrant, long-lasting designs without producing large quantities of finished inventory in advance.

YOUR IMPACT

Your Purchase Makes a Difference

Every purchase, no matter how big or small, helps support meaningful work here in Baja California Sur. 1% of every Oceza sale is donated to local organizations working to protect wildlife, reduce waste, and build a healthier future for the communities and ecosystems we call home.

When you choose Oceza, you’re not only choosing a more thoughtfully made piece—you’re helping give back to the place and ocean that inspire everything we create.
